Cost of the Program

The curriculum is intensive and the new module is designed to help the students to assess if they would like to further explore a career as a practitioner of the Healing Arts.  At the end of each module, the student will be evaluated to determine eligibility to continue in the program.  The total hours of the course are 650.  Students must attend all hours required by NCB and the State of Iowa to graduate. *** (Any make-up hours are an additional charge and will be at a higher rate than the basic core cost per hour.)  Any student not completing the practicum in the allotted time frame will also be charged an additional fee(s).  Tuition is due a minimum of 30 days prior to the start date.

 

Example:                Module 1                200 hrs. X $11.00 = $2,200.00

                                  Module 9                110 hrs. X $11.00 = $1,210.00

                                  Module 11                10 hrs. X $11.00 = $   110.00          

 

These are the modules that are taken exclusively at Holistic Horizons. *** Module 10 may also be taken at Holistic Horizons or elsewhere.  Cost:  25 hrs. X $11.00 = $275.00.

 

There is a transfer fee of $1.00 per clock hour to transfer classes from the college.  (Minimum $305.00) .  This is for pre-approved courses.  Other courses that must be evaluated may be subject to an additional charge.

 

Cost for tuition for classes held at Holistic Horizons are as follows:

Total cost is $4,100.00 and includes 345 hours of the 650 hours required.

 

This tuition covers the scheduled class hours.  If you miss a class and have to make up the hours, there will be an additional charge.  Classes with less than 3 students may be assessed a higher rate per hour, depending on classes selected.

 

Refund Policy:  Full refund (minus $100 + Application fee) if dropped 3 days prior to first class.  First Day and after, refund is pro-rated per school policies.)  There will be fees assessed for late payments, NSF checks and late applications, etc.  Failure to pre-register & pre pay may prohibit a student from enrollment in a module offered.  Student should complete all the modules within 8 months.  Any student exceeding course work past the module end date will be charged for additional hours.  All modules must be completed within 18 months from start date.  Each module may be offered only once during the 18 months.  Failure to complete the modules/course work successfully within the 18 months may result in a repeat of some/all of the course work.  Some students may be required to complete certain modules prior to acceptance in the core module.  Enrollment and completion of any module does not guarantee enrollment in subsequent modules.  A minimum 70% is required to pass all modules.

This list is not all-inclusive, additional expenses may vary per class choices, transfer of hours and some electives have additional fees.

 

Financial Aid: At this time, Federal Financial Aid is not available for the Holistic Horizons portion of the tuition.  Some state programs Such as JTPA, Displaces Homemakers and Vocational Rehabilitation may apply.  Many students have applied for personal loans or have received assistance from current or future employers.  On occasion, Holistic Horizons offers work study options to those who meet the requirements.

As of 6/1/05, the cost per credit hour was $93.00 subject to a price increase.  You need to check with SCC on their application fees, activity fees and refund policy.  Transfer fees may apply.

Textbooks and supplies are additional.

 

You also need to check with SCC for their financial aid options.  Scholarships may be available to those who qualify.

 

**Special Note:  Any student enrolled in a program at the college level (such as AA, Nursing, Business, Sports Management, etc.) for at least 6 semester hours is eligible to apply for financial aid.  It is strongly recommended that students pursue a college degree in conjunction with the massage therapy / body- worker program.

In some cases, therapists are paid more per hour with an additional degree such as Nursing or Sports Management.

 

Electives and continuing education:  Currently all elective classes are through Southeastern, Kirkwood and/or Spoon River Community Colleges.

 

The average cost is $11 per clock hour.  Some electives are an additional cost per hour.  The cost of supplies, textbooks and additional materials are in addition.  These classes are not eligible for financial aid but may be eligible for reimbursement from your employer (check with employer).

**NOTE:  Cost of tuition can be reduced with financial aid.  Also courses at IWC are approximately $250 per credit hour.  If taken for audit they are $125 per hour.  Path and Kines may be taken at another college for a lower cost.

 

 

Equipment

The major equipment you will need to purchase is a massage table and a portable massage chair. 

 

A package deal has been arranged through Earthlite.  Only approved equipment will be allowed.  Holistic Horizons requires a special massage table with the face hole in the table, not as an add on.  Please do not purchase equipment prior to receiving ordering information.
